"Serpent
Mound" Music Sample
Evokes the timeless mystery of the Native American
animal effigy known as the Great Serpent Mound. This 1,330 foot
long mound was created by the Adena people in the first century
BC. This serpentine design is the oldest and largest surviving
raised earth mound in North America.
Piano, keyboards, Lakota flute, ocarina, and
exotic percussion subtly blend with on-site environmental recordings.
Jiccarilla Apache Matthew Andrae adds traditionally styled chants
to several tracks, a further evocation of the powerful mystery
of the Great Serpent Mound. 47 minutes.

"Surrounding you with a spiritual, meditative
aura, Serpent Mound is a unified work of New Age art and is a
musical destination well worth revisiting."--

"Rusty Crutcher speaks to us in music and in
sound that which the ear could never hear otherwise. He has transcribed
with sensitivity the subtle message his intuition has given him,
an initiation into this greater awareness."-THE

within the breathing earth."-- P. Randal,
REVIEW
"
Uninterrupted
meditation
relaxing background ambience"
"Serpent
Mound" is a slice of Native American minimalism from Rusty
Crutcher. Rusty highlights the benefits of blending Native American
sensitivity with modern technology. He builds upon three major
themes - an acoustic piano dirge, a synthesizer drone and Lakota
flute melodies - to explore the spirituality of the Adena. (The
Adena people of Ohio created the serpent mound. It is "the
largest surviving raised earth mound in North America.")
The exploration
of the spirituality of others allows us, the listeners, to explore
our own inner selves. The solemnity of the . . .music maintains
the even flow of minimalism, allowing for uninterrupted meditation
or for relaxing background ambience.
