OCEAN ECLIPSE
La Pas, Baja Mexico

On-site recordings of nature and the tidal-quieted ocean during the total eclipse at La Pas, Baja Mexico on July 11, 1991, the sun's longest total eclipse until 2132.

"Ocean Eclipse" Music Sample

Crutcher complements his on-site recordings with original compositions for this rare event: birds fall from the sky, flowers close and insects become silent until the moment of total eclipse, when they begin to vocalize as if it were night. Lokota flute, silver flute, keyboards, soprano saxophone, acoustic guitar, hand drums, assorted percussion. 43 minutes.

"Another winner for Rusty Crutcher fans, and an excellent choice for anyone seeking a soothing musical break in their day or wishing to experience a supremely sensitive interpretation of the spectacular natural phenomenon of total solar eclipse."
-- Jaack Clarke, Awareness Magazine

"A collector's item and audiophile's dream, Ocean Eclipse is an historical first-an atmospheric/emotional sound portrait of a great stellar event."
-- NATURE MUSIC

"Radiant, shimmering...It polishes the air waves."
-- C.Wright, Music & Audio Reviews

". . . absolutely exquisite music."

"A collector's item and an audiophile's dream, OCEAN ECLIPSE is an historical first - an atmospheric/emotional sound portrait of a great stellar event."
- THE LIND INSTITUTE

"It is not just the ambient nature sounds that are the foundation for this moving creation. Crutcher must have absorbed the eclipse like a sponge. He paints the music - with synthesizer and live flutes, saxes, and drums - over the ocean, and it reflects out the speakers. A radiant, shimmering - and appropriately darkening - atmosphere. It polishes the air waves.
- NAPRA REVIEW

"Bird calls, the rush of ocean waves, and other natural phenomena were blended in-studio with Lakota and silver flute, saxophone, guitar, percussion, and other instrumentation to create a musical pilgrimage of homage to our home star, the Sun, briefly shadowed in total darkness…OCEAN ECLIPSE's exquisitely delicate musical imagery is especially suitable for meditative listening on fine audio equipment."
- NEW TEXAS MONTHLY

"Crutcher's 'Machu Picchu Impressions' is a best selling perennial. [OCEAN ECLIPSE] should do even better as the artist is obviously at the peak of his considerable creative power. Crutcher's work is not to be missed."
- NEW AGE RETAILER, "PJ's Picks"
